Nowadays, the process of whitening/bleaching teeth is routine and effective and is called “dental lightening”.
However, the safety of this procedure is far from proven yet.
In addition, it should be noted that this treatment is not reimbursed and the implementation of it could result in having to do redo all previous fillings.
In all cases and in order to avoid the “sanitary white” effect, it is our (ie your dentist’s) decision when the treatment should be stopped.
Generally, and in most dental practices, this treatment costs in the region of €500.
The bleaching of teeth, as above, is different to the bleaching of one specific tooth. Sometimes, for example after an accident or root canal treatment, a tooth can become discoloured or darkened compared to the rest of the teeth and often happens to front teeth, the incisors. These are the teeth that show when one smiles. This unsightly discolouration can be treated using special internal, bleaching techniques. This treatment, which is totally painless and harmless, allows the patient to once again smile beautifully. Further information regarding this treatment will be provided on request.
