You will be having a small oral surgical procedure. In order to limit the risk of post-operative infection it is essential that you arrive at the surgery as clean as possible. The following advise should be followed prior to the operation:

Do not take aspirin less than ten days before the procedure.

Wash your hair with care.

Wash your face with a unperfumed soap and a clean flannel

Shave carefully.

Do not wear contact lenses.

Do not use lipstick.

Do not use adhesive for dentures.

Brush your teeth for at least three minutes. Rinse well with a mouthwash containing chlorexidine. This rinse will be repeated at the surgery just before the procedure.

On arrival, remove your dentures.

Take your prescribed medication as indicated.

Stop smoking at least eight days prior to the procedure.
Finally, be aware that mild anxiety before a procedure is quite normal. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate telephoning us. If the anxiety is a problem, it is possible for us to prescribe something calming but if that is the case, you must make contact with us.
Do not arrive on an empty stomach. Wear some comfortable clothing. You should not be driving after the operation so arrange for someone to accompany/drive you.
